Happy Birthday 'Merica!

This may be the last few months of freedom and democracy after this 248 year "experiment" so we should all probably live it up. (Kidding, not kidding.)

Anne, Steve and JJ caught the 11:30 ferry yesterday. Once they got here and unpacked, we headed to lunch at the Reel Bar. From there we came home and Anne took the kids out on the wave runner. It was pretty rough out so their rides were focused in the Bay and just outside it. The kids also partook in some paddle boarding (I ended up having to tow them in on the wave runner a bit because they couldn't keep up with the current taking them out of the Bay). Once they came in, I was about to ask them if they wanted to go to the pool (it was miserably hot and humid) but Eva beat me and said, "Are we going to the pool?" It's unusual we go so late in the day (it was 3:30) but I needed to cool down. We stayed until about 5:00 and then came home for dinner prep.

Trip and Susan ended up catching the 7:30 and they really only had to wait about an hour. They said there were very few passengers. Once here, they were famished so they headed to Reel Bar (Jim and I stayed behind). I was exhausted and pretty much went right to bed once they got back.

I'm currently sitting here with most of the family (those who are up) and once I finish this, we will start our big breakfast. Trip and JJ plan on going to the baseball field around 8:00 to hit some balls. They'll leave the island on the noon ferry for JJ's baseball tournament. I'm bummed they won't be here for the weekend but I'm glad they came up for as long as they could.

I'm sure today will be a pool day. So far the weather is nice though a bit cloudy. It's going to be a steamy one though.

Dinner tonight: We're doing a sort of picnic with our neighbors. We'll do our own protein (we're doing drip beef and pulled chicken) and then Maggie is making a pepper dish and Anne is doing a cucumber salad and brownies.

The fireworks will go off once the sun goes down which means it's going to be a late night for old Muwee. I might need to schedule in a nap.

And that's all I've got. Happy 4th...happy Thursday. Later!
