My visit with Jim yesterday was really good. He had all his stuff out (except his IJ line - the line in his jugular), got sleep overnight and was, in fact, awake through my whole visit. Kind of messed up my "work" plans but I'm okay with that. (They eventually took his IJ line out but that happened after I left as did his move to the heart floor.)
When Jim called to facetime me last night, his hospital voice (flat monotone voice) was gone and he sounded so energetic. I'm so ready for him to be home and I know he is as well. He's already told me he wants Beef Stroganoff for dinner. I told him that he's the menu maker for the next little while since his appetite isn't quite what it usually is and he's had to eat hospital food for the last week. (Well, 5 days since he didn't eat for the first 2 days.) He talked about taking a shower last night but I don't know if that was going to happen. No matter, when he gets to come home he'll take a nice shower in his own bathroom and I'm sure it will be lovely! Excited for him. I just hope it happens today.
So my plans for the day: I'll wait to hear from Jim about Dr. Locher's visit. If he's going to get discharged, I kind of expect it to happen later in the day, which means I'll probably head over there a little later than usual. Normally I get there around 10 or so. I just don't want to be there late with the boys home and waiting for me. I'll walk them after I finish this and once the sun rises then I'll do yoga and if there's time I'll do the elliptical.
Ooh, I just looked at Jim's chart and the "Day at a Glance" for today has no overnight plans! That's a good sign for discharge! Fingers crossed. I'll try not to get too amped up in case it doesn't happen. But even if it doesn't happen today, it will tomorrow!
I woke up this morning at 6:00 and my first thought was, This time last week we were at the hospital getting Jim prepped for surgery. What a great place to be now. A week post-op with Jim doing well, about to come home, on the other side of this crazy whirlwind we've been living in and hopefully a bit of a break from health issues. {Knock on wood}
In other news (how nice to have something else to talk about) I watched Family Switch, the new Netflix Christmas movie with Jennifer Garner. It was really cute! I told Jim about it (JG is his girl) and he's excited to watch it. Bonus it has a cute dog in it as well.Okay well, I'm going to go get ready to walk. I also need to fold Jim's laundry and change the sheets. Happy Wednesday! Fingers crossed for Jim coming home! Later!
