Distracted

I got distracted this morning answering school emails and almost forgot to post. Oops. 

One of the emails that I was answering was from a parent whose son is a senior this coming year. Her email was this: 

Hey!

I don’t know when/if you’ll get this, but this info really blew us away and I wasn’t sure if you knew it too…

So, we were sitting at dinner the other night, and [son] said to us that he is dyslexic. Apparently he thought we knew it, and that you knew it. We had no idea, and sat there with our mouths open in shock. I guess he has another friend or two who are dyslexic, and they were talking about it.

Needless to say, this bit of information would probably change a lot of the things we have done the past few years. So, I just wanted to pass it along and get your thoughts about it.

This is hilarious because in the last evaluation done, it specifically says in the background information that the mother mentioned dyslexia running in her family. It then proceeds to explain how the student struggles with reading and dysfluency. I mean, DUH! Needless to say, I explained all this to her in a professional way (that didn't directly scream "OPEN YOUR FREAKIN' EYES!"). This is a kid too who has always had the ability to have "read aloud" but never took advantage of it. He always wants to do things on his own, mostly because he's so afraid of looking stupid. He doesn't realize he's his own worst enemy and sabotages his progress. Oh well, what're you going to do?

In other news, Jim's supposed to go get blood work done today to see if something is going on after he coughed up a blood loogie (gross). He's not had any issues since and I think he's probably fine but better safe than sorry. 

Plans for the day: I'll be doing my usual (walk, bike whatever) and making shrimp tacos for dinner tonight in the air fryer. Nothing else is going on. Boring here. 

Oh, I started watching Hacks (the HBOMax series with Jean Smart)...HILARIOUS!
