Here's what's been going on:
- My last day at school was quite productive last Friday. I managed to get nearly everything ready for the first day back and I wrote the bulk of three IEPs that will be within the first 2 weeks of school in January. Phew!
- Saturday, Jim and I did a major clean of the house, I made my lasagnas and then we were actually able to relax.
- Sunday Mom and Richard drove in but went straight to Trip's to drop off their car and then later meet up with all of us. During the day, I made my appetizers, set the tables for Christmas Eve and did some last minute straightening and preparing. We left the house around 4:30 for J.J.'s soccer game (they won!) and then we all went to Rafferty's for an amazing family dinner! (Thank you Trip for your hospitality and generosity!) Mom and Richard came home with us. We came home, had a quick cocktail (I had tea, actually) and then it was off to bed after an exhausting day and more to come.
- Monday - Christmas Eve - we were up and ready to head to Hofbrauhaus around 10:30. Lunch was, as usual, wonderful (Thank you Charlie!!!). I love this tradition. It makes my day a little easier because I'm not sitting at home wandering around in circles and thinking about what else I should be doing to prepare. Everyone arrived around 4:00 (Anne, Steve and Fritz arrived around 5:00) and we enjoyed appetizers, drinks and the kids rode around the circle on their electric scooter and bike. We opened presents (I got my instant pot accessories some of which I used yesterday and candles! Also some sweet puppy plates!). Dinner was next (delicious if I do say so myself), then brownies/ice cream and our annual fart walk. This year it was just me, Charlie, the kids, Trip, Maggie and Susan. Anne and Steve didn't have proper footwear and Jim stayed home with Fritz. It was quite lovely to walk around the neighborhood and see all the luminaries lit.
- Christmas Day - as usual it was a relaxing morning of presents, breakfast (a yummy casserole a la Mom) and mimosas. My loot included new fireplace tools, a knife sharpener (I've needed one forever), my car wash gift card, and other little stuff. But remember I just got a new car! We headed to Raeburn around noon and had a great time. Games, dinner, family time, Jim played hide and seek with the kids but no fart walk for Muir and Jim. We had to get home to the pups.
- Yesterday I had to go out for a bit of a shop - Aldi, Kroger and Old Navy. I needed to get new pants because I'm not fitting into many of the pairs I have. I'm now in a size 8! Can you believe that?! I've never been in a size 8 before. Well, that I can remember. I think I've not worn a size 8 since I was in my teens and 20s. Makes me tear up a little. When I was in the dressing room at Old Navy I just stood there in awe as I pulled tried on several pairs of pants that fit! Just a reminder that all that "work" and determination I put in to lose weight is paying off!
And now you know why I've forgotten to post! But I promise from here on out I'll remember and try and do my job as usual.
You may be asking what my plans are for the rest of break (because I've still got 11 days before I go back). Well, I'll be hanging with my pups, making dinners, playing with my instant pot (making chicken broth today); Saturday we're going out with Doug and Lauren. And that's about it. My main goal in my break this year is to relax and enjoy the time off.
And that's all I've got for now. I'm going to enjoy my coffee now and even have a French cake with it (gotta get rid of the "crap" in my house!) Happy...what the hell day is it? Thursday!? Wait! Tomorrow is Friday!? That's crazy. Well, happy whatever day it is! later!
