So over the past week, I've been trying to start a new norm with my eating, exercise and drinking habits and I have to say I'm quite proud of my how well I've done. In terms of exercise, I'm trying to do something every day. That could be a bike ride, yoga with an added core workout, cutting the grass etc. I'm also trying to take the boys for a walk every day (building up to longer walks as they get used to the wildlife that crosses their paths). As for my eating habits, instead of my usual breakfast, I've cut down to just a smoothie in the morning (1 c. of spinach, 1 banana, almond milk and protein peanut butter powder). I'll have a low carb lunch and for dinner (during the week) I'm trying to cut out the meat. (I made a delicious black bean burger earlier in the week and a delicious eggplant gratin last night.) Now drinking...that's the toughest. A) No mimosas outside of the weekend B) Only red wine during the week and only max, two glasses. After that, water! Certainly drinking has been the toughest but I'm determined. And I have to say, it hasn't been that hard. I do like to exercise and when it's over, I feel so good. When I don't drink (as much), I sleep much better and I'm also enjoying the search for veggie recipes. Hopefully I'll continue on this path.
That being said, I don't expect when I'm with Maggie (Monday) that I'll stick to my usual routine. But that's okay...we'll swim off the calories! Oh, and then I got a text from Becky last night and found out that instead of them going to PIB during their week in June, they're going to San Fransisco which means, the cottage is empty! So, Maggie, Eva and I are headed up from Monday - Friday! This will be June 11th-15th. I can't wait. Jim's totally cool with it and as long as he stays "healthy" we're good to go.
Now, speaking of Jim, he's taking a day off from his meds. See, yesterday, he had a slight fever (99.4) after coming home from work. He didn't have a fever at bed, nor did he have one this morning. However, he did feel a bit "tingly" according to him. He said he felt like things were "starting". For instance, with these meds, he gets a weird dry skin thing on his forehead and he said it was starting. I think nipping this in the bud prior to any real fever setting in is a good idea. Jim's doing a good job of listening to his body and not being overly sensitive so I think this is the route to go. I'm keeping track of everything so we can report to the doc too (we meet with him again on Tuesday). If all is well tomorrow (no fevers today), then Jim will take the meds again tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
So today will be a chill day. Not like my days are anything else but the weather is transitioning so it's rainy. I've done my morning routine already (with the exception of walking the pups) and I'll probably read for a bit, do a bit of laundry and then take a bath. Since it's Friday, I'm doing a pulled pork in the Instant Pot (a recipe Maggie did a couple months ago that was easy and delicious) and I can't wait for Jim to come home so he can enjoy a lazy weekend with me. We're taking care of the dogs across the street but that's not a big deal. Well, correction, 2 dogs, a cat, a fish and a bearded dragon. Knock on wood!
K - well, time to...sit around and do nothing. Happy Friday! Later!
