Upswing

I'm definitely on the upswing while Jim has headed down. UGH! We thought he was headed that way on Sunday but then he rallied that evening (this is exactly how it happened with me). He worked Monday and then when I met him yesterday at the oncologist, he looked puny and his temp was 99.6. He still went to work but called me around 8:30 to say he was fading fast. I feel bad for him because he has to go in tonight to finish the project he's been on (a pediatric office in KY...gee, I wonder why we're sick). Hopefully he'll sleep a ton today and feel better.

So Jim's appointment yesterday was fine. I think Jim is having a better understanding of things an we are actually a bit more hopeful after talking to the doc. Of course, as she says, with melanoma, you can think you know how things are going to go and then melanoma does whatever the eff it wants and you're headed in another direction. The order was put in for the meds but they are mail order so won't get to us for a week or two. From there, we'll have to meet with the doc after Jim's been on them for two weeks to check kidney and liver functions. He'll have to get a PET scan every 3 months or so and an echo/EKG every couple of months. We'll meet with her every month. This is pretty much Jim's life for a while. As the doc has said to Jim over and over, this is a maintenance program, kind of like someone with high blood pressure. You have to take drugs to control things and keep it from getting worse.

What else? Nothing really. I have a new student in my LA and history class. She's a freshman who has failed pretty much every class in this past semester. I'm not sure how this happens and then 4 months in the year you decide to move her into more manageable classes. UGH! I also had to school the sped teacher that this decision was a change of placement and required a phone call home. Why are people so stupid? When I told Jim about that, he said, "Jeez, I think even I knew that!"

Okay well, I need to get a move on because I'm not sure what I'm doing 1st period. Happy Wednesday. Later!
