Unexpected Gifts

Don't you just love it when you realize there's a "gift" waiting for you that you didn't know was there? I was paying a bill and saw that I had "points" to redeem. I looked and saw I had over 13,000 which translated into $100 worth of gift cards (I chose Yard House and Bonefish). Plus I've got a stack in my wallet and another on the way from my insurance deal-y-o. I think Jim and I will use the Mitchell's Fish Market card this Saturday before heading to Terri's x-mas party. Excited.

Sad news: Jim's best friend's father passed away. His funeral is Saturday. Les was the best man in our wedding. Jim met Les when he and his father moved into the Hanke family home (it's a two-family). Jim and Les became fast friends and have stayed that way (even though Les lives in San Fransisco). Coincidentally, when Jim and I were dating and first got married, it just so happened that Les's mother and step-father lived two houses down from my parents. That's weird, right? Anyway - Les is in town and I'm sure Saturday will be a busy day for us.

Jim's still on 2nd shift. Don't know when that's going to change. I have to say I'm a bit sick of eating dinner by my lonesome. More annoying is the fact that I haven't cooked a real meal since Sunday. Not that I've been eating junk but I've been making little meals for myself (quiche, mini homemade pizzas).  I'll make a meal tonight so that we have some leftovers.

What else? Nothing really. I watched It's a Wonderful Life last night. Well, I watched the last hour. It had been on last Saturday and I watched the first two hours but fell asleep for the best part. I cried my eyes out last night. It was sort of ridiculous. I mean, I've seen that movie probably more than any movie ever. I can probably recite every single line in it yet I still get all weepy at the end. It just makes me so happy.

On that note...I'll bid adieu. Happy Thursday...we're almost there. Later!
