Not Looking Forward To My Commute

From what I'm hearing, most side streets still have a lot of snow and ice on them.  We got another inch or so as well which means the salt and snow trucks had to quick working on side streets to ensure major arteries were clear. And in the county where my school is?  They SUCK at snow removal.  SUCK!  Realistically - I only drive in Warren county for about 5 minutes but I worry about the kids in my district who drive like complete fools.  You know - because they think they're invincible.  At least we have a 2-hour delay though.

Totally forgot to post this sweet photo of a sweet girl and her daddy!  Loves!

Yesterday was productive.  I got my taxes complete and filed!  YAY!  Look forward to that chunk of change being deposited into my account.  Additionally I had an IEP meeting over the phone.  I'm telling you - this mother is a kook.

So I call her at 11:00...nice and late in the morning, right?  Well the phone rang and rang and rang and I was just about to prepare for leaving a message when the mother answers - groggily - and I say, "Mrs. Blank?  It's Muir...is this a good time to go over the IEP for A?"  And she says yes, that she just woke up.  WHAT!?  And before you go there - she doesn't work late nights...she doesn't work.  UGH!

Anyway, I proceed to go over some key points in the IEP...ask her if she has any questions/concerns and she asks how her son is doing, gradewise.  (BTW - I email her every week with grades and her kid tends to be an A/B kid with a C thrown in there every now and then.) So I tell her how much the teachers enjoy having her son in class (legitimately...he's a great kid).  He participates, does his work, gets along well with others, is respectful and compliant etc.  She then says, "He thinks you hate him."  I tell her how flabbergasted I am by this because he and I have a great rapport.  I tell her how he and I do this English accent thing and so on.  She then says, "Maybe it's a different teacher."  So I say that if it's the woman I share a room with - she has the same things to say about her son and they have a great rapport too.  She then says, "Maybe I misunderstood...just forget I said anything."  Hmm...

So then we're wrapping things up and she tells me she's concerned about her sons grades and performance in school because she's going through a divorce and her ex is an asshole and a horrible person and she hates him etc. Um...did you forget I'm not your therapist (and God I hope you've got one)? Oh, and again, his grades are fine.  But I reassure her AGAIN.  Then she says, "Oh, and can you talk to A about the importance of using his Clearasil pads every night?!"  Huh?  And then she proceeds to tell me that she has to "sit on him" at night to get him to use the pads.  So weird. It's a wonder that her kid is as normal as he seems to be.

So that was my excitement yesterday.  Best head up to shower and get ready.  Crossed fingers for a safe commute for all.  Later!  TGTF - Thank God tomorrow is Fibay!
