Chapter 722

Of the Blondie saga...getting a little sick of telling/living this story (sorry Maggie, you've already heard this...maybe we should take a "break"). Yesterday - Blondie actually came to school...I didn't see her in the morning but she wasn't on the absences list.  So after OGTs our schedule was: 1st period, 2nd period, 3rd period and 5th.  I teach LA 1st (Blondie is in that), I have planning 3rd but Lisa teaches science (Blondie is in that) and 5th period I teach World History (Blondie is there as well).  So first period starts yesterday and Blondie is a no show.  I'm thinking, "Oh, here we go", and then my phone rings.  It's a guidance counselor (not Blondie's) telling me she's making up a test. (I thought she was making up the OGT that she had missed Tuesday but I found out later that nope...she was taking a test for another class she has).  Blondie never showed for my LA class...she missed a whole hour of West Side Story (she missed a 1/2 hour of it Monday when she had to go to the nurse) and I'm having the kids do a big packet afterwards to compare/contrast it with Romeo and Juliet...another thing she'll stress about.

3rd period - Lisa's science class.  Blondie shows and they play a game of which I played too...we all laughed, joked and then rrrrrringgggggg...time for 5th period and World History.  Bell rings for class to start...no Blondie.  Hmm...phone rings.  It's Blondie's guidance counselor.  I answer: Hello?" GC: "Hey, Blondie's finishing up a test down here."  Me: "Huh? She's finishing a test?  She was just in Lisa's science class."  GC: "Well, she has a personal finance test to finish."  Me: "She has World History class...right now.  She's missing a class."  GC: "Well, she's taking the PF test now."  Me: "She's missing a review for a test we're having Friday. What the heck!?" GC: "I don't know...this is what she's doing."  Me: "WHATEVER!" And I hang up, put a smile on my face and continue with the review for the kids who weren't skipping my class.  Ten minutes later, GC walks Blondie down to my room.  I make no comment, she sits down, and reviews with the rest of us.

The day ends.  Kids walk out of my room and I turn to Diane who says, before I can even get a word out, "I know...I know how pissed you are...that was ridiculous."  Me: "I AM SO F*%KING PISSED RIGHT NOW!!!  WHAT THE F*%K IS GC'S DEAL!!!?"  See, the thing is - I get that Blondie hates me and doesn't want to be in my classes and thinks I'm mean and terrible but this is her anxiety and mental illness talking.  And GC is completely throwing me under the bus, treating me completely unprofessionally and feeding Blondie's crazy.  ARG.

So I get all that off my chest and head upstairs to a meeting with the sped department.  FW is there (it is her room) and I wasn't going to say anything...but Lisa mentioned something so we tell FW the story. Come to find out then that the test she was taking 1st bell to miss my class was the same personal finance test she skipped 5th period for.  FW had no idea she was missing an actual class to take it...and in fact, she sent her out of her company because she couldn't babysit her.  Blondie has a study hall and should have been taking that test then but because GC has started all this, he's allowed it to landslide. Blondie has now turned into a monster and I guarantee things are about to come to a head.  My plan of action, however, is to just take whatever is handed to me.  If I see GC, I will certainly mention my disappointment in how he's handled this shituation and how I feel he's treated me (I'll do this calmly without raising my voice now that I've had some time to gather my temper) but I'll let him take the lead with this. Because what's going to happen is she's going to end up in his office 13 times a day...he's allowing this to snowball and she's barreling toward him down a steep slope and he's about to get clobbered.

Okay - now I'm late...best head out...wish me luck...later!
