I am home from a whorl-wind vacation at PIB and as usual, it was fabulous. Jim and I left on Tuesday morning and got to spend quality time with Trip, Susan, Molly (who was a good dog the whole time), Dad, Becky, Cullen, Kyle (Cullen's friend), Aunt Muir, Uncle Stan and Jeffery who came up last night with his girlfriend Claire. The time spent there is never long enough but hopefully I'll be able to get back up there at least one more time this year.
The fireworks on the 4th were awesome and the mosquitoes were thankfully absent. Last year they were the size of bats and made it nearly impossible to sit outside to watch. I'm happy to say that I didn't have one bite!
Highlights:
1) Water "aerobics" at the Crew's Nest on Wednesday and Thursday mornings (8 AM) with some of the other lady islanders. I ended up punching myself in the face both days because I am uncoordinated and can't seem to do the warm-up stretches at the side of the pool.
2) Dad rented two wave-runners on Thursday so Trip and I could take Cullen and Kyle out for high-adventures on the lake. I can barely walk, type, turn my head, sit, or lift a drink to my lips because for 1 hour, I had the wave runner on full throttle and used muscles that I think I stopped using when I turned 30. I would be in awesome shape if I got on one of those everyday for 1/2 hour. (The full hour nearly killed me; I couldn't even stand up to pick my bathing suit out of my ass while on the damn machine).
3) Trip, Jim and I went to the Crew's Nest for rest, relaxation, Mudslides, many games of HORSE/PIG in the pool, sun and swimming on Friday and had a blast with the 5 - 11 year old's on the diving board. I was the first one to accomplish splashing the lifeguard with my can opener. Quite impressive.
4) Hearing Aunt Muir call Uncle Stan an asshole behind his back as we drove away on the golf cart. It was priceless. Who would've thunk it?
5) Prime rib, Dad's green beans and mashed potatoes on the 4th. It was well worth the wait for this meal (it was supposed to be ready at 7:30 but didn't finish cooking until 8:30. No one complained and no one entered the kitchen until Dad and Becky had gotten the beef to the correct temperature. We aren't stupid)
6) Yesterday's sunset. Gorgeous. I'll have pictures if Susan remembers to send them to me this week.
7) Molly Longbody! What a sweet little (long) pup. She squeaked when I gave her a hug goodbye today.
8) Our daily 3 mile walks. I counted 5 dead baby snakes, 2 dead birds and countless dead chimpmucks on our route. I think Molly tried to roll in every one of them.
9) Playing Hearts and Euchre with Susan, Trip and Jimmy Lou. I kicked ass in Hearts one day - managing to run the cards two hands in a row.
10) Big Brother started Thursday! Now, the only reason this is on my list is because I happened to be at PIB when the season started!
K - More later. I need to go soak my poor body in a nice, hot bubble bath so I can walk.
