And...I'm Up

4:45 AM and I'm awake. Drinking coffee. Hanging with my dogs who are confused. They don't know what's going on. I think Jim jinxed me. Yesterday he said, "It's so weird being up before you. It's been that way most of the summer but I'm still not used to it." See, normally, getting up during the school year at just before 5 AM, I program myself and then can't sleep on the weekends, even, past 6 or so. This summer, however, I've been sleeping until nearly 7:30. Jim tends, recently to get up at 6. Must be peaceful for him. He's going to be bummed when he sees I've gotten up already and he won't get his Muirless morning. Oh well, such is life.

So, why am I up you ask? School. Not because I have to be there. Nope. Simply because with it looming so close - Friday and Monday are work days and we get the kids Tuesday - it's all I can think about.

Why am I thinking about school? Lets see: Is my room ready? Will I be able to get in it on Friday? Should I bring my supplies that I've purchase Friday? If I do, and I can get in my room, will the elevator be unlocked? (I know, but it's what's going through my head). Is so and so going to finally put us all out of our misery (his mother and me) and just drop out? (I know, that is terrible but when you pass nothing your first 2 years and refuse summer school and continue to not take a slip of paper home but call yourself "college prep" what am I supposed to think? I mean, he will be taking Biology for the 3rd time.) How in the hell are we going to make sharing a classroom (two classes going at the same time) work? How are the kids sharing that classroom with the MH kids going to react? Is the new teacher going to do well? Is she going to set up programs that are effective for the kids? Are the parents of these said kids going to constantly compare our program with the Junior high program? What is the new principal going to be like? What kind of demands will the new principal make in regards to special ed and are we going to pay for it (will the teachers blame us for the fact that they don't do their job)? Are the two teachers that suck in our department going to suck again this year? Are Lisa and I going to have to constantly babysit one of them (or both) because the administration doesn't want to fire or train them? Is the other teacher going to annoy me constantly with her questions (I know, me, complaining about someone asking questions?) And, when I answer her is she going to talk right through me or go to the adminstration when she doesn't like my answer? How is my student teacher going to be? Will she have a good sense of discipline with my troubled kids? Is the air conditioning going to be working? Are our rooms going to need extra attention from us to prepare after the ventilation system screwed everything up this summer? Is payday this Thursday? Is the new pay year starting then? Is? What? When? How? Why? Where? Do? Can?AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See why I'm up?

I understand, sista! I am right there with ya. I woke up around 5am and couldn't get back to sleep right away. I forced myself though to sleep until around 7:15. When I was awake around 5, all I could think about was school too and all the things I had to get done or at least thought I had to get done. I really hope we can get in our rooms on Friday. And the most important question you asked, Will there be air conditioning????? That remains to be seen.
