Dream A Little Dream

I had the craziest dream about Dad last night. I was at Mercy (Montessori, our grade school) and was looking for something...or donating something. I can't remember. Anyway, I walked into the cafeteria and came upon a table of nuns and I asked them where I should go. As I'm talking to them, I realize I recognize them from when I went to school there (near to impossible) and I was telling them my name, "I'm an Arbaugh." One of them turns and points to a man at the table and says, “Oh, he's an Arbaugh" and I turn and it's Dad. I was so happy to see him because like in life, he had passed. So he got up and I got up and I went and gave him a big hug and then I started yelling out to Becky and Maggie; Trip and Anne because I knew they were nearby so they came and we were all hugging and taking pictures. It was so weird. Then my alarm went off. So yeah, I guess in the afterlife Dad's hanging with a bunch of nuns.

I bought a ham. And I'm pretty excited about it as is Jim. I went to Kroger during my prep period yesterday (to get bananas and fruit for my lunch) and I saw they had hams on sale so I thought, Hmm, I haven't made bean soup in eons. I bought the smallest one I could find but it's still just over 8 pounds. My plan is to make some sort of dish tomorrow (maybe a chicken cordon blue casserole) and then freeze a lot of the ham and THEN on Sunday, use the ham bone to make soup. So excited! And it's supposed to be a yucky, rainy day on Sunday...perfect for something cozy.

I've been really good about keeping off of twitter and whatnot. I've unfollowed a LOT of the political things I'd been following as well as "hiding" those that I follow or am friends with that are still talking shit. I've also not been watching anything political. The only difficult thing is in the morning when I first get up and watch channel 5. All I want to see is the weather and local news but of course I've caught some national shit. I either ignore or hit the mute button. I just think for my sanity, my well-being, I need to distance myself. Maybe that will change but for now, I'm happy to remain ignorant of the goings-on in that toxic world.

Poor Jim! It's not often you hear/read me saying that, huh? He got home last night, around 12:30 and almost immediately came to bed, which is unusual. He normally sits downstairs for a bit to decompress. Anyway, he came to bed and I happened to be awake and I said, "Hi." He said, "Hi." And then he said, "I broke a desk tonight. Standing on it." I said, "I'm pretty sure that would be against the protocol of preventing "Slips, trips and falls" in the workplace." He said, Yeah, and in doing so, I spilled about a gallon of paint all over the place. It took me an hour and a half to clean it up." I said, "Ugh!" He then said, "Which means I have to go back there tomorrow night." I said, "I thought you were doing that anyway." He said, "Not if I hadn't spilled the paint." Poor Jim. Poor, dumb Jim. (HAHA!)

Which means that dinner tonight will be grilled cheese and some Brunswick soup, which I pulled from the freezer, since I'll be eating alone...again. But that's fine.

After school, I'm going to a nearby bar (to school) to have a couple beers and FINALLY pay the guy I lost a bet to. He'd bet the Phillies would have a better record than the Reds at the end of the season and obviously I lost. I'm fine with that. A little positive thinking to start off the season...can't do any harm and what's two beers? I'll be out of there by 4:00 to get home to feed the boys and walk Scout.

No plans this weekend except to chill.

And that's all. I'm out. Later!
