School yesterday was fine. The meetings, for the most part, were short and relatively painless. The 1 training session wasn't horrible and I got some good time in my room to work. What I will complain about (because you know I can't help it) is that the 1 training session I needed to go to, which would train me on my new multipurpose board (that replaced my whiteboard) was closed for sign up but according to Lisa, there were seats. So now I have to figure the stupid thing out myself and who has time for that. I need the stupid thing for my lessons so ARG! I'll figure it out.
I did get a reply from my principal regarding my desire to change lunches. He said, "Muir...I'm working on it." I mean, okay, thanks for "working on it" but it isn't that hard. It's max 6 kids. But, I'll kiss ass and send him a reply saying, "THANK YOU SO MUCH!"
Today will be more meetings. The first will be the superintendent's address. Then we'll have our union meeting regarding the contract (more on that in a minute). Next we have a security meeting presented, I believe by the resource officers in our district and finally we'll break into building meetings. They are apparently feeding us (Potbelly) and after that, I think we'll get time in our rooms.
Regarding the contract: Although I'm not completely mad about it, I do think I'll vote no. Why, you ask, when it pretty much has no chance of failing? Because it's not a GREAT deal and I want to make sure they know that the bargaining team shouldn't be patting themselves too vigorously on the backs. I also want to ask the question: What was the original ask for pay raise and what did they counter with. If it was a counter of what we got and no compromise, that will piss me off. I want the union to know (transparency) how they fucked us (or didn't fuck us...yeah right) without actually negotiating. We all know they tried bully tactics to begin with, refusing to meet in the middle and walking away from the table. I want to know that we didn't cave completely.
Dinner tonight: Cobb salad.
What else? Oh, the temps should be quite lovely for the next couple of days which makes me happy. I'm hoping I can take a bike ride when I get home.
And that's all I've got. Time to get a move on. I have to get gas on my way in. Happy Tuesday! Later!
