Yesterday was a pretty boring day since there were only 9th and 12th graders in the building and 12th graders didn't attend any classes. 1st period I have no freshman; 2nd period I think I had 2; 3rd only 1; 4th 4; one 5th period and 4 7th. I introduced myself to the kids and gave them the basics about my classes but for the most part, we'll get into the nuts and bolts today when all kids are in attendance. Plans for today include getting students into their Google Classrooms, creating their shortcuts on their Chromebooks; setting rules and that's about it. I won't start "teaching" until next week.
Considering all the meetings and bullshit this week, it really did fly by. I can't believe it's already Friday! Glad I made it. Jim and I don't have any real plans for the weekend until Sunday when we'll spend the day at the pool. Trip, Susan and JJ will join, we'll do lunch and then head home around 4:00. Depending on the neighbors plans, we'll probably play some cards and Jim will probably insist on a Shooters visit.
Jim's currently working in Deerfield which is near home and also near Costco, which means he's headed there today to get some basics. I also told him to look at their prepared dinners and get something that floats his boat for tonight. I like their stuffed peppers but we'll see what he comes up with. Hopefully something good.
I bought a lamp for my room at school yesterday morning and it came by the end of the day. I'll put that together when I get to school. That should make my room a little more homey.
As per usual, the latest rumors have been flying around school. Mainly they surround administrators, specifically the VP who moved into a new administration position, one supposedly created for him. The rumors I'm hearing are that he was put into this position with the understanding that it was only good for a year and during that time he'd find a position in another district. I'll believe that when I see it. I know that he's been looking for another job elsewhere for a while. I believe he's wanted out of our district for some time and I know he was in the running as principal in a nearby school but who knows the truth of the latest rumors. Some of the shit that goes around is so ridiculous...I usually don't take these things too seriously.
Okay well, I'd best get a move on since I need to put together a lamp. Happy Friday! Happy weekend! Later!
