My room is really looking put together. I've always wanted to have cozy seats for the kids, like bean bags, and I mentioned that to Lisa yesterday. She told me that a few years ago when she and another teacher was putting a room together, they bought a couple beanless bags and an inflator and I could use those. So, I did. I draped a couple of blankets on them and bam! Homey! I'm going to get a nice little lamp too and put that in the front of the room. I just figure these kids are constantly bombarded with fluorescent lights and having to look at Chromebooks all day long. It would be nice for them to have a some soft light during their day. I'll look on Amazon later to find something.
Today will be an easy peasy day. We have a staggered start and at the high school, only freshmen and seniors are to report. Seniors don't have to be there until 8:15 and will be in various meetings through the day. They can then leave early. Freshmen will be in abbreviated classes until about 12:30 and the rest of the day is meetings. I only have freshman a couple times during the day so bonus, I won't have much to do. Which means I can tackle more on my list. Woot!
Yesterday while walking Scout, he conked out on me. We were going on a 3 mile walk and I thought he had overheated even though I'd given him water a couple times and it wasn't that hot. About half way through I called Jim and asked him to come get him. I continued on, however. Later, after I'd gotten home I realized he was limping. Poor baby must've tweaked his foot or something. Thankfully when he got up this morning he seemed fine but I'll keep an eye on him. Poor sweet baby.
Speaking of the dogs, last night Boo kept running away from me. I would walk upstairs, he'd see me and run under the bed. Even when I was offering him his bedtime treat. I realized it was because earlier when I saw Scout had hurt himself, I sat down with him to feel up his feet and legs to see where he was hurt. I think Boo must've thought he was next. He's so silly. He's still kind of avoiding me. He didn't even come in while I was doing yoga to smother me in kisses while in downward dog. I told him my feelings were hurt but he didn't seem to care. Although he did bring me his duck after I told him that. Hmm.
Dinner tonight: Burritos
Today is also Eva's first day of 7th grade. How is that possible!? SEVENTH GRADE!!! WTF!? Good luck to her! It's going to be a great year!
K - I need to get a move on. Apparently the news is at my school so I need to avoid that. You may wonder, why is the news at Kings? I think the story is about the fact that we've his a record number of students in our district (over 5,000) and are busting at the seems. Every school but one in our district is overcapacity. Guess what that means? Another levy will be going on the ballot in the future that the community is going to fight. Ugh!
