I'm Not Ready

Jim is going to be fine with me at work but I'm just not feeling it. The days I had at home really gave me a taste for summer break and now, rather than feeling revived and ready to face the rest of the school year, I'm itching even more for this year to be over. Ugh! I need to choose a better attitude. I'm sure it's mostly just the Monday blues thing and once I get back into the swing of things my mood will be better but all I keep thinking about is how much left I have to do this year before it wraps up. I promise I won't be like this for the next month and a half.

In regard to Jim's progress, he's doing really well. Thursday was a tough one for him. I think because this surgery was a little different from the last one (out patient which meant his nerve block wasn't as strong) he had more pain. Once we were past Thursday, however, he's steadily gotten more and more limber and had to rely less on any pain pills. I think yesterday he only had to take a pill 2 times.

His road to recovery started immediately on Thursday with a nurse coming look at the site of his surgery and check his vitals and then PT coming. They'll come again today and then he'll have 2 more PT appointments at home before he goes to PT on his one next Monday. Jim feels ready to use his cane rather than his walker but I told him before he does that to talk to the PT and see what he/she says. No point in pushing it and then injuring himself.

The weekend was fun. We pretty much hung out here but did manage to go to Shooters (no drinking for Jim) and then out to dinner on Saturday with Doug and Lauren. It was an impromptu jaunt but nice to get out for a bit. Sunday, Easter, the neighborhood got together for mimosas and an Easter egg hunt for the kids. It was a lot of fun and I got to meet a few new neighbors that recently moved in up the street. I think it's going to prove to be a fun summer with all the kids. We're already planning a cookout on the Friday of the last day of school (May 27th). I'm excited we're getting back into hanging together after a couple years of craziness.

Dinner tonight will be what we were supposed to have on Saturday: Mahi Mahi fish sticks with green beans and fries. Nothing major.

Ugh...one last bitch: I can't wait for Jimmy to be able to walk again. Already it's been less than a week and having to walk both Scout and Boo is wearing me out. I know part of it is my crazy issue but with walking Scout, then Boo, then still needing (here's where I am crazy) to get either on the elliptical or do yoga (depending what I did in the morning), I'm spent! It's different from the summer when I do all that because I'm not working. I feel like I'm constantly running around with my head cut off. Hopefully he'll be feeling good quickly and be able to take Boo for a short walk in the next couple weeks.

Okay well, it's about time I get going. I'm sure I have a TON of shit waiting for me at work so I guess I'll head out a bit early. Happy Monday! Later!
