Feeling These Nearly 49 Years

It was a TOUGH weekend with everything Jim and I did. As you can see from the picture, we finally managed to get all the wood that had been dumped in our front yard, split. The uncovered wood is what we split plus one section you can't see that's under the tarp. We didn't split the "small" pieces and will probably leave those to season and split next spring. Obviously, we're not in need of wood and probably won't be for 2 seasons.

For the most part, Jim and I did all the work (Doug came over and helped for about an hour on Saturday): I split and Jim stacked. My injuries are pretty minimal: Lots of bruises and a couple of cuts plus I'm very sore...especially my upper chest and armpits (being in a low seated positions for hours and lifting huge pieces of wood). I did think I broke my arm on the first day (pretty much in the 1st hour of working). My left forearm got caught between two pieces. It's still really sore but I think it's just a deep tissue bruise. Ibuprofen helps so that's good. Glad that's done! Needless to say, I was in bed and zonked out before 8:00 last night!

And now Jim and I can focus next weekend on Christmas! Can't wait!

Oh, Jim's appointment from Friday. Well, first, we were there for 2 1/2 hours. I wonder if the new doc will be the same? Anyway - Jim we got all the scoop about Jim's new meds and his most recent scans. No movement of the cancer from his lungs (brain is clear...that's my worst fear). His colon is still showing a wonky diverticulum but it's NOT diverticulits as Jim has no symptoms or issues so that's good. In terms of his meds: He started yesterday. The biggest issues with these meds are fatigue, rashes (we have to keep an eagle eye out for sudden skin changes) and minimal joint pain (which Jim already has). Jill, our nurse practitioner stated that these meds really haven't been as problematic for other patients when it comes to side effects. Jim is on a half dose now (which is 6 pills a day) and will, over the next 6 weeks increase to a full dose as long as he tolerates. In two weeks we should be scheduled to meet with the new doc. I'll keep you all updated.

The week at school should be pretty low key. I have an IEP meeting on Wednesday but that's it. I'm showing the movie Ten Little Indians in LA. Then, next week (I can't believe it!) is only 2 days long! Woot! I'm so excited.

Oh! And you'll be happy to know that my elliptical is fixed! The parts came on Saturday and after splitting, I replaced the left leg of the machine. (I ordered a right and left with the thought that eventually the right will wear out too but I didn't replace it yet.) I look forward to getting back on after school today!

And that's all I've got! Jim is already out (had to be downtown at 6:00) but will be home, hopefully around 2:30 today. Which means, I need to get the pups settled in and kenneled up...so I'd best mosey. Happy Monday! Later!
