The next two days at school will be all about testing. I have a room full of kids that are a mix of 504s and IEPs with extended time testing (time and a half I think) taking the ELA test. My expectation is, if I know anything about these kids, that they won't take advantage of the extended time. It usually ends up that one or two kids set a new record in the short amount of time they actually spend on the tests. This is sad because they just don't try but not surprising and I really can't blame them. These tests are stupid and certainly not reflective of a kids abilities.
I switched things up this morning with my routine and by switching things up I mean I decided to take a day off from exercise. I never do this but decided I needed it. First, I've been awake since about 3:15 and it's a late night at school today so I just wasn't feeling it. Second, I need to learn to take a day off here and there.I feel like I'm definitely going to need a nap today but don't think I'll get it. School lets out at 2:15 and we'll have 2 hours between then and the dinner being served to the teachers. If I sit at my desk, I'm going to fall asleep for sure so I think a jaunt to Target to get some toiletries will be the best solution for this. We'll see.
I took a lovely bike ride yesterday after school. It was windy which I didn't expect but warm and I managed to get just under 8 miles in. I look forward to getting back on the trail once school lets out.
Dinner tonight, by the way will be served by Bravo. They usually do a salad and bread with a lasagna and then a white sauce chicken dish. Definitely not a healthy, low-cal meal but again, I'm going to let this day be a day off.
Did I mention that I've started having hot flashes again? So annoying. Mostly, they happen at night while I'm in bed but every now and then (like right this minute) I have one while awake. I hate hot flashes but what are you going to do. I want to get one of those "cool pillows" but I wonder if they actually work. Maybe I'll put that on my list of things to do today while I'm sitting at my desk for 7 hours - "research cool pillows".
I started a new book (did I mention this yesterday?) which I'm enjoying called Delta County by J.L. Hyde. It grabbed me right away and so far so good. We'll see how it proceeds.
Okay well, that's all I've got. So happy tomorrow is Friday! Happy Thursday! Later!
