I didn't sit down after getting home from school (aside from eating dinner) until around 6:30. I was busy, busy, busy. First I got home and walked Scout. Then I blew all the leaves off the front and back decks. Then I mowed/mulched the front yard. When I came in from doing that, I gave Scout a bath (he's got that fall/itchy thing going so I wanted to bathe him with the medicated allergy shampoo) and finally made dinner. The good thing about all that was that I was so busy I didn't drink. I'm trying hard to keep my weekday drinking to a minimum. So far, pretty good.
Today will be much of the same when I get home: Walk, blow leaves, mow BACK yard, cook dinner. I have no idea what's for dinner...I didn't have anything on my menu so I'll dig in the freezer and see what's in there. If I have a frozen marinated pork tenderloin I'll do that.
Did I mention the student that was put in my 3rd period LA class who started yesterday? She's a junior (not on my caseload) who has been in the district but has some behavior issues and had been to school only 1 day so far this year. She got in trouble with the truancy courts (only took 2 months) and was going to go to the behavior school but one of our dumb ass "sped supervisors" decided to put a behavior plan together and get her back in the building. So she's on an abbreviated schedule (checks in with her intervention specialist 2nd bell, comes to my LA 3rd and then math 4th) and is in all sped classes because they're small and there's less interaction with other students. Her biggest issue is avoidance and outbursts. She will walk out of class without permission and sometimes goes off on people. If she walks out, the admin in charge should be called immediately.
So she shows up yesterday and class starts. I go through a synopsis of the book we're in the middle of because I don't want her to be completely lost and then I start reading. I'm about a page into the chapter and she casually gets up and just walks out of the room. Which means I have to stop class and call the admin in charge...who doesn't answer his cell. So I call his office phone. No answer. I call my principal. No answer. I call the OTHER VP. No answer. I call the office secretary. No answer. So I text the VP in charge of this student and then call her IS and tell her what's up. I said, "She lasted all of about...mmm...5 minutes."
And all this is annoying (especially when you can't get a fucking admin to answer a fucking phone) but mostly it's annoying because it was well-known this wasn't going to work. And the stupid (sped supervisor) that put this together is a tool. And now, another sped supervisor has decided that the "team" needs to get together and talk about a totally different program to put her in where she can complete her requirements at home. And don't call me a part of the team...I'm not meeting. I only got involved because she was put in my class. I've met her one time. This shit should have been done from jump. Arg! Oh well, not my problem. Well, hopefully...if she shows up today it will be my problem for a minute...until she walks out again.
Okay - best get going. Jim's still in bed and I need to make sure he's up to make it to his scan on time. He can't eat or drink anything so I let him sleep. Happy Wednesday. Later!
