I Don't Handle Stupid Well

Day #2 of testing is upon me. I hate to start with negatives but this week (and 1/2 of next) can't end soon enough. Yesterday was fine...no snafus on my part but I've done this several times and know not to panic if a kid can't get online or if a kid doesn't have his "testing ticket" or if someone doesn't show up but then does show up and there's a scramble for getting them started while trying to be quiet and not disrupt the other kids. Not to mention kids who finish a test that's supposed to take nearly two hours in about 15 minutes (actually that didn't happen to me yesterday but not far from). Anyway - my biggest issue about yesterday came from another teacher (and the sheer boredom of the day). This other teacher had a classroom of kids that were to be taking Algebra but at least 3 of the kids somehow ended up taking ELA instead. Which means, since these kids didn't have to take ELA, they still have to make up the Algebra and either have to now take 2 tests in one day or come in on another day when they could have stayed home. And guess who has to deal with the aftermath? Ugh! Why are people so dense?!

My IEP meeting yesterday was fine but then after the meeting, I had to deal with a stupid bad parent. So this parent has another kid (10th grader) who was on my caseload until February when they withdrew her to have her enroll in online school because of health issues. Literally this kid missed 3/5 days per week or went home early nearly every day because of migraines. Well, at my meeting yesterday, the mother says her daughter wants to come back to school. Originally I thought she meant next year. Nope. She wants to come back NOW...with about 25 days of school left including state testing (which she has to take) and exams. She hasn't been here all semester so what the eff!? And rather than the mother putting her foot down (even after I voiced my concern and opinion) and being the actual PARENT! She let her dumb fuck daughter decide what would happen. I mean, BE A FUCKING PARENT! That's your job. Tell you immature kid that she's making a stupid decision and needs to complete what she started. Can't fix stupid! Job security.
