Buckling Down

At school, during down time or when I have spare time, I've been working on my Biology class for next year. This is a slightly daunting task for a number of reasons. 1) I don't like Biology! I know this is terrible to say since I'm going to be teaching next year but it's my least favorite subject in the world. But this is the price I have to pay for NOT having to co-teach. 2) I'm basically starting all over in constructing things. Thankfully I'm not constructing PowerPoints - those have been done by the science department - but I'm having to go in and make sure the wording and lessons are appropriate for my lower kids. So far, I've gotten nearly the whole year's worth of lessons in order and I've downloaded into my drive the PowerPoints and notes. However, I still have to get enhancement activities together, quizzes and tests constructed and I need to go through the actual slide shows to make sure my kids will understand the language (they aren't going to get the subject matter!). I DO NOT want to have to do this over the summer so I'm hoping over the next several weeks, I can manage to get all of this mostly done! Next week and really until the 24th, I'll have at least 3 hours a day to work on this. Fingers crossed I make some MAJOR headway.

Oh, and I have all that to do along with end of year paperwork, an IEP on Monday, another IEP in May for a kid deferring diploma and heading to the career center and 2 IEP amendments to make for kids going to the career center for their junior years next year. I also have to do senior paperwork and IEP progress reports. (Why am I thinking about this and freaking myself out!?) On the one hand, end of the year sucks because there's this rush to get shit done before the work day but then there's also, normally, a lot of down time. Looks like that won't be true for me this year. UGH! I have this to look forward to next year as well because I need to revamp my Government class for 2020-2021 school year.

But I won't think about that now. I'll think about the fact that it's going to get near 80 today! I REALLY want to walk the dogs this afternoon but Jim's definitely not going to be home until later than usual because I'm sending him to the store after work. You'd think as much as I send him there he'd be a little faster. I'm not convinced that he isn't spending time at the Kroger bar, by the way.

I don't really have much else to talk about. It's getting harder and harder to get up in the morning as summer nears. I wake up, pretty much every day and think, "How many days until Friday?!"  I'm also sleeping up to my alarm goes off every day which is unusual. So ready for a break!

Ooh, Julian Assange was arrested. Interesting. This should be interesting.
