So, last night, Jim and I watched The Reader with Kate Winslet, Ralph (pronounced "Rafe" of course) Fiennes (pronounced "fines") and David Kross. I had read this book - in a day - loved it and really looked forward to seeing the movie. Not to mention Kate Winslet is a fave of mine and she won the Academy Award for it. There was a lot of anticipation for this movie and I had high hopes. Having said that, I will say the movie was at least as good as the book - a rare thing. I hesitate to say it was better but it was really, really great. You must see it - it's on On Demand so...no excuses.
Yesterday was a back breaker. I mowed the lawn - front and back, treated front and back and middle circle for grubs then did a separate treatment for bugs (all in the hopes of killing a few moles), did a treatment of bug spray (Cutter, you attach it to the hose) for the back yard, used the weed eater on the side area in the back that we have fenced off (it was waist high - JIM!!!), unearthed two baby bunnies (hopefully saved two baby bunnies), made a new recipe (Italian Pie) and a delicious dessert of Rhubarb Crumble. I was exhausted! Hard to believe I actually made it through the movie. Hard to believe I'm up at 6AM! Oh, and got a farmer's tan doing all of the above! Damn it!!! I'll have to walk around in my strapless bikini all day to get rid of the marks! DAMN IT!!! No one wants to see that - oh well, sorry neighbors, I just can't have tank top marks on my shoulders! I look retarded! (That's one of my new bikinis by the way...that is not me by the way!)So today will be "flower day". I'll make breakfast here in a bit and then Jim and I are heading down to Reading Feed to stock up. I'll probably do impatiens in the front (they're so low maintenance and really grow bushy and pretty) and we'll see about the boxes in back. I want to get a bright hanging flowery plant - we've had a hummingbird at our Snap Dragon so I want to keep her coming back. We're also going to buy grass seed to get the grass a-growin in the middle of the back yard where we removed our Japanese maple and day lilies (transferred them). I'll be doing most, if not all of this while Jim slaves away in the bathroom.
The bathroom: it's coming along. Jim has the tub completely set in (he had to apply "liquid nails" or some such so it doesn't float out of its place), the hardieback is up and he will complete all the dry wall today - I hope. Tomorrow he will hopefully get the glass block wall built). It's a lot of work and once all the walls are in place, it will be downhill from there. Maybe by the end of summer? I kid (I hope).
K - I'm going to go sit out on the deck and listen to the birds scream their heads off (I swear they're louder this year)
Oh, and happy Brother's Day Trip and Cullen! Your gifts are in the mail! I'll expect mine for Sister's day on August 5th! Later
