And not the delicious chocolate delight either! Fudge - the word I am using in place of my favorite curse word. Life just keeps getting better and better!
Why, you may be asking have I not posted until now, when I have been a free woman (from the duties of work) since 3:30 Thursday afternoon? Well, because my computer went on the blitz. It wouldn't start, wouldn't boot up, wouldn't do a GD thing. That's right, the computer that I have owned for just over two years broke down. I know, you're thinking, "Well, of course it did Muir. It wouldn't be your life if everything in it didn't break down!"
So, after trying to fix it based on my little knowledge which consisted of me turning the computer on and off and the praying while it tried to boot up, I ended up calling Gateway (which, by the way DOES NOT have an 800 number) and spending about an hour on the phone with some humorless geek who, in the end, wasn't able to do squat. I then dug out my warranty and found that ALAS! Not every part of my life is in the crapper! The warranty that I paid extra for was still good!
I then took my nemesis (the computer) down to BestBuy and had Bob at the "Geek Squad" counter tell me, after standing there for about 30 minutes, that he couldn't diagnose anything (the normal crap that should be going wrong like a virus etc.), everything was fine from what he could see from his scan but that he would do a more extensive diagnosis - which would take about 2 days - and let me know what was up. Bob said at this point that from what he could tell, it was probably a hidden virus that WOULD NOT be covered under warranty. My response, "Well, if it isn't covered under the warranty - you can bet your sweet bald head that this is what''s wrong."
I then went through all my errands for the day, came home and got the call from Bob: The hard drive is failing on my computer and - wait for it - IT IS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY!!! My response was, "This is (my name). Did you mean to call me?" Pause. "Yes. This is Bob from the Geek Squad." I laughed. So, something in my life isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg? This can't be.
So here I am with my computer in front of me and no less money in my bank account. Yeah! What do you say - that calls for a beer or two (or a bottle of wine or two) - Right?

Glad to hear your computer is up and running. I hate it when the computer acts up. Now that I have wireless, I totally use my laptop for everything. I can't stand to use the stupid desktop that freezes up all the time. I hate computer problems. It's nice to be on break though. I kept thinking that today was Sunday. Having Friday off really screwed me up. But now it's like I have an extra day of break that I thought was gone. Reading back through what I've written, I could use a drink too. I am quite the rambler at 10:21pm. Later!
