I guess this week is going so slowly because this is our first full week in January since coming back from Winter Break (right?) but MAN! It's starting to wear on me. I'm also all messed up because of the 1/2 day meeting from Tuesday, the two IEPs that were scheduled this week and then the fact that the Tuesday meeting got pushed until today. Which, of course, I forgot about until I was laying my head down for bed last night. UGH! Thankfully, I sent a reminder out earlier in the week and I don't have a regular ed teacher coming. I forgot to remind Diane, however, who will be covering me (I hope) in my study hall. Oh well, it is thankfully Thursday so we're almost there.
The other bummer regarding school is my LA class is on the last chapter for The Help - we'll finish it today. This means that I'll have the test next week and then we'll watch the movie. And then I have to figure out what the F to do for the next week or two. I want to read one more book this year and I believe I know that book we'll read but I wanted to push that until the 4th quarter. I'm thinking about doing a writing assignment (the bane of my existence in teaching) but I'm still not sure. I mean some of the kids can barely form a sentence and I need to work on this with them but it's so painful. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and do things you don't want to do. And who knows - maybe the kids will surprise me.
Hey Maggie - here's a good comparison. For those of you wondering - Maggie and I were talking the other day and she was saying how she has a hard time looking at Ted Cruz's face because he reminds her so much of Glenn Quagmire. I had no idea who that was. Apparently he is a character on Family Guy. Here is the Wikipedia description of Glenn: The Griffins' next-door single sex-addicted neighbor and one of Peter's best friends. He is an airline pilot, but is best known for his extreme sexuality and always saying "Giggity" or "Alright". He is attracted to nearly every woman (especially Lois Griffin). In one episode, he is revealed to have been Jack The Ripper in a past life. He has a soft side for cats. His dad is Dan/Ida Quagmire, who is a male-to-female transgender woman.
Now try and unsee that or not think of Glenn the next time you see Ted on the news.
K - well, I guess I'd better mosey. Happy Thursday. Later!
