Wouldn't You Know It?!

Not that I'm going to Columbus for the weather but wouldn't you just know that the temps this week are going to be in the 70s and then - Friday...they drop to the 50s.  Oh well...them's the breaks.

So a headline on the news today: "Kids learn to curse before they learn their ABCs".  Um, they also learn other words before they learn their ABCs...is this a big revelation?  I don't think so.

And can I bitch a little bit about Jessica Simpson?  She's on baby number 2...good for her.  But why is she having a shower?  I mean baby #1 is barely out of the womb...that is NOT proper etiquette.  She is, however, having a boy this time (allegedly) so I guess that's why.  They should call it a Baby Celebration rather than a shower.  Who am I to take away from her joy though, right?  Why do I care?  I really don't...I just have nothing else to talk about.

In other news...have a mentioned that Blondie is crazy?  She's at it again.  Why?  Well, I'm teaching WWII.  After I finish the chapter I plan on showing The Pianist (with Adrian Brody...about the Polish piano player who evades capture by the Nazis during the Holocaust...true story).  Well, the movie is Rated R...mainly because there are 2 curse words (shit and f%&k) and a bit of violence.  So I sent a permission slip home because not all my students are 17.  I didn't think it'd be an issue since these kids watch WAY worse things (including Blondie...they've watched Walking Dead in math class). Guess what?  Yup - Blondie's mom won't give permission. And Blondie was all, "I just don't want to watch that kind of thing...it upsets me."  Really?  The truth upsets you?  History upsets you?  Anything Mrs. Hanke does upsets you?  Yup...that's the truth.  So after she handed in her permission slip, I said, "Well, we won't be watching then." (I had said if one kid wasn't allowed then we wouldn't watch).  And that's all I said.  She goes running to one of the guidance counselors and said I was pressuring her to watch.  GIRRRRRL!!!  You crazy.  In the end, I've decided to show the movie (I actually decided before the GC came to bitch and moan about Blondie bitching and moaning)...for Blondie, I'll be giving her several (SEVERAL) printouts of some survivor's stories.  She'll then have to do questions on each one.  What a drama queen.  Next year can't come soon enough...get her ass off my caseload.

K - well, with that little diddy, I've run out of time and need to go finish my toilette.  Happy Monday...Later! (By the way - "diddy" is spelled wrong and the choices to correct are, "diddly" and "daddy"...hee hee.)
