Oh boy...can I just say that yesterday afternoon was quite the "Lucy and Desi" show!
To preface (and the only reason I'm sharing this is because basically, everyone knows at this point anyway) - Jim, knocked me up again (bastard)! And for those of you who have lost count...that's 7! SEVEN!!! And before you get too excited (for those 2 people who read this and may be hearing this for the first time) - I've already started losing it. No biggie...I'm fine...didn't expect any different. Damn rotten eggs! And by the way, can you say urologist? Snip snip Jimmy! If I can go through 7 miscarriages, you can get a nice little outpatient procedure!
So anyway, yesterday, after getting home, hugging the puppies and letting them out, I called the doctor's office to see what the plan was. I had/have an appointment next Monday and in the past when this has happened, they just have me cancel that and get blood work instead until my levels return to normal. Well, yesterday, after leaving a message with the nurse and finally getting a call back, explaining the shituation, the nurse tells me she wants me to come in RIGHT NOW! UGH!!! That means, at 3:45 on a Monday afternoon, I have to race down to Clifton (30 miles away) for what, I didn't know. Blood work? Ultrasound? Anal probing? So I hop in the car and off I go. On my way out of the neighborhood, I call Jim who's at work and I leave him a message on his cell..."Jim, if you call me, don't call me at home because I'm in my car on my way to Clifton...I called the doctor and he wants me to come in right now! Ugh!" I also called Maggie who is down in Tennessee visiting Mom.
To make a long story a little less long...at the doctor's: ultrasound, blood work. They'll call today with a "plan of action".
So I get in the elevator at the hospital (by the way, the doctor's office is at Good Sam Hospital in their Medical Building) and check my cell (no phones at the doctor's allowed) and I see I've missed 5 calls from Jim. "Jesus," I say. I was only in there a 1/2 hour. So I call him. No answer. Finally he calls me back and tells me how worried he was. Me: Gee, sorry. I didn't think my message was cryptic. Apparently Jim thought I was going to the hospital and when he couldn't get a hold of me, he freaked a bit. Ended up leaving work and (I soon find out...alerting everyone in the family).
So I'm driving home, none the wiser when my cell rings again. Maggie. She says, "You know you have a lot of people worried about you?" Apparently Jim was at Rafferty's at the time (where Trip works) he was trying to hunt me down. So Trip calls Susan. Susan finally gets the bright idea that if Jim and no one else knows where I am, Maggie (even in TN) will know. So then, of course Mom and Richard are informed. Oh, and did I mention that Jim called my dad too?!
Susan said later, "I hope Jim isn't in trouble!" And of course he wasn't...can't fault the guy for caring and worrying...even if he is a moron and doesn't listen! In the end, Jim left work, picked up Olive Garden and we had a nice night at home together.
K - I'm out...later.
