Nothing too dramatic but I probably stuck my big ginormous foot in my mouth...again! Why can't I keep it clamped?!
Okay, so I've mentioned that Dot (collegue in spec. ed) got the boot from that jackass HH, right? Well, I got the low down on "why" - his letter essentially said it had to do with the fact that she was "ineffectual in her co-teaching class" and was "unable to form professional relationships with her co-teaching collegues." In other words, a bunch of made up bullshit! And, of course this all stems from one of the co-teachers comments (lets call her Caffey) to HH (who Caffey is best friends with and is far up his ass). She told him earlier in the year that she couldn't stand Dot and that she had offended her and her teaching in front of the kids. When this all went down in November, I told Caffey that Dot had no idea this was happening and she needed to talk to Dot about it - LIKE A PROFESSIONAL!!! Of course she didn't - she told HH instead and it was just another nail in Dot's coffin.
So, yesterday, I'm in Caffey's class, "co-teaching" (what a joke) and she mentions that before break, Dot had asked her to email her or HH something regarding the fact that their relationship had changed for the better and things were okay. Of course Caffey "forgot". She was telling me this yesterday and I just looked at her, shaking my head and said, "Forget it. It's too late." Caffey: "What do you mean?" (Like she didn't know - the whole staff knew). Me: "He fired her Caffey." Caffey: "But she emailed me today and asked me to still write it." Me: "Oh, well she's appealing the decision." She went on to ask me what she should write so I told her what his "firing letter" said (about her not being able to effectively co-teach). And Caffey says: "So, it's all my fault!?" Me: "Pretty much." And then, "Not to be mean, but HH had it out for Dot from jump and any bit of info against her was going to be ammo for her firing. You knew that." Of course from that point on, Caffey was "upset". During my next period of co-teaching, with the other World Studies teacher I told him that Caffey may not make it through the day (she often has "meltdowns" and has to go home...um, is that professional?). He told me later that she came to him crying. Sucks to have blood all over your hands, huh?
So, I'm sure Caffey will, if she hasn't already, run to HH and all her other friends about what I said and I'll get my ass chewed out for, I guess, telling the truth and being honest. I know...a concept unknown to many in my school.
On a happier note: Today is "That Sucks Day"! I plan on saying that to several people - mainly my students. For example: Student: "Mrs. H!? I don't have a pencil." Me: "Hmmm...that sucks!" Or, Student: "Mrs. H!? Even though the bell just rang for the start of class and I was standing out in the hall, right by the water fountain for 5 mintues, I'm dying of thirst and need to get a drink!" Me: "Aw! That's sucks!" How about: "Mrs. H!? I've screwed off all year and now realize: I've not gained any credit for the this year in any of my classes!" Me: "Wow, that really sucks (to be as stupid as you!)"
Well, I best head out. I'll be late to school but I'll also be there until 7:30 tonight so, what do I care. Later.
