I tell you, when it rains it pours. Life is never easy and I do believe that God must hate me or at least enjoy watching me suffer. Here's the update on Jim's car: Along with the $800 that it took to fix one thing, he needs a new motor. This will cost approximately $2700 more! Anyone out there (those of you who just gasped) have a few thou to lend a poor, sweet (shut up Maggie), stressed-out, nearly 40-year old fat ass?!
Along with all the car shit, I'm also trying to get that fat ass I mentioned back into shape! You know, stop drinking during the week, cut out sweets, exercise at least 4 days per week. Believe you me, when I got the news yesterday about Jim's car, all I wanted to do was bury my face in the leftover plate of Christmas Eve brownies and only come up for a huge swig of wine! But I didn't! Instead, yesterday, I did everything I said I was going to do. I moved my pilates machine back into my dressing room and I exercised. My dressing room, by the way, is more like a small gym now. It holds my treadmill, recumbent bike and my aero pilates. There is no reason anymore for me to NOT exercise with all that staring me in the face.
Anwyay, yesterday after I had brought everything up from the basement, rearranged my dressing room to fit everything in it and exercised, I felt like I barely got a work out. Then I woke up this morning and felt the pain. Holy moly! See the aero pilates machine works pretty much every muscle in your body. There are a series of 32 exercises that are meant to tighten and strengthen. I figure if I do it 3 times a week and then maybe the treadmill once and the recumbent once, that's good. My new plan too is that instead of posting in the mornings before school I will now exercise a few days per week before showering. The pilates only takes about 20 minutes which is about how long I take to post in the mornings. I figure if I have to suffer, you all have to suffer too. Sorry. In other news, the dogs are happy I'm home and without wheels to leave them (Jim's using my car). The only problem is, they want to go outside every five minutes. First Zeke will get up and want to go out. And of course when he does, Sami has to run outside barking like a bat out of hell. But, she doesn't stay out and after I close the door, I have to open it right back up to let her back in. Then Zeke wants back in. But, he doesn't come right to the door. Nope. He sits at the deck steps and stares at the sliding glass door and barks. So...I have to get up, open the door and issue him an invitation. And of course upon opening the door, Bubba decides he wants to go out. Which means Sami has to go tearing ass outside ahead of him. And like I said, she only stays out long enough for me to have to close the door before deciding she wants right back in. Then Zeke finally comes to the door. It's never ending. I've been thinking that instead of replacing the sliding glass door in the kitchen with another sliding glass door or french doors (someday), I'll get a revolving door and teach the kids how to let themselves out. I think Sami would just run around in circles though. Barking!
Okay - I'm going to eat a bowl of cereal and then head up for a little pilates. Hope everyone's day is better than mine has been. Or will be in the near future for that matter. Oh, and let me know if you want to contribute to the "Muir in the poorhouse" fund!

Oooooh, I am sorry about your car. That sucks so bad. If we had to put that much into a car, we would have to go without. And motors are not something Daryl does, so we would be crap out of luck.
I totally do not think it's fair that those of us who really ARE fat are going to have to start our day without your morning blog when you already have a hot body.
I actually started yesterday on eating better and stuck to my 1500 calories. Then today, I am making the Laura Bush cookies, which by the way, are insane to make. So, I guess I will really get back at it when we get back to work, which was my plan anyway! Hope your day gets better!
So much for being positive.
YIKES!!! I really hate cars sometimes!! Can't they just run perfectly forever??!! I have to get a new battery and the brakes done on the Escape and that's only a few hundred dollars. If I had a money tree, I'd definitely be giving you some cash. I'm starting my "eating right, exercising" diet on Monday. That was my plan all along. My Wii Fit and I will be getting back together and I have a new Wii Personal Fitness "game." I've used it once, and it kicked my arse! Can't wait! :-) HeeHee!!
