YAWN!!!!

Well, I just woke up and have a "busy" day for a Saturday. I have to go to the grocery, get my hair cut at 11 (it is a mess - very dry and I can't wait for it to get long, long, long so I can not blow dry it) and then well, I guess that's it. Oh, and clean the house. Oh, and I'll cook dinner tonight at some point. Oh, and do laundry. And, nope, that's it.

Here's my hair issue: It needs highlighting but I want to wait for summer and maybe see if the sun will keep it highlighted. See, it takes about 2-3 hours to get my hair highlighted and I just don't have the time right now with school and I hate to give up most of my day on a Saturday to do it so...my roots are somewhat "dark" right now and I feel bad for those that have to look at me but what can a girl do? Also, I've decided to grow my hair out and try for it to be super long. I know what you are all thinking (the 2 people that are probably reading this): "Muir, you are 35 (I hope you mumbled quietly) and you're too old to be wearing your hair so long." But here's the thing: #1: it will mask many things (my face, well one thing); #2: I'm sick of blow drying and when my hair isn't long enough and I have "bangs" I'm forced to blow dry because my curls make me look ridiculous; #3: I haven't had really long hair since I was about 25 or 26 and I want long hair again (I'm not whining). So I'm in the growing out stage and just want to apologize for not "looking my best".

I want to share with all of you (those 2 people reading this - it's probably not even two), one of my favorite things: Getting up in the morning (well, on the weekend that is). I absolutely look forward to waking up on a Saturday morning and knowing that Jim is up and has made coffee which is waiting for me downstairs and I have the bed all to myself. It's one of my favorite parts of the day.

Along with the coffee, however, another favorite is how I'm delicately woken up. Here's the scenario: Usually, I'll slowly become conscious of the things going on around me: the fan gently blowing, the birds chirping outside my open window, the heavy weight of one of the dogs at my feet. I'll lay there, not moving, for a few minutes, adjusting and deciding if I want to be up yet. Usually, there isn't much of a decision in this. Once I know I won't be going back to sleep, I will gently move my feet (remember, my eyes are still closed) and try to figure if it's Bubba or Zeke there. See, it all depends who it is on how I will proceed next. If it's Bubba, I'll gently move my head slightly, adjusting so that I can open one eye and see the digital clock. If it's Zeke, I'll just have to wait because he'll see my movement and immediately get up, move to the side of me, pinning me, and proceed to lick my face. This morning, it was Bubba at my feet. It's so funny too because the minute I move my head, I know that downstairs, Sami has somehow, sensed I'm awake and I'll soon hear the quick gallop on the stairs and feel the not-so-gentle pounce of her on my chest (or head depending on how far down in the covers I am). So, now, Bubba has moved up to lay between my legs, pinning me; Sami is laying on my chest, grunting and growling playfully wanting attention; and Zeke has now gotten up from his dog pillow on the floor at the end of the bed and joined us, laying down on my right side so that I am completely pinned with no hope of getting my coffee. Also, if my hands are pinned under the covers at this point, and I'm unable to pet Sami, she will stand on top of me, digging on the covers looking for my hands. It's not the most peaceful way to greet the day but I love it. There's nothing like having pets who are that happy to see you in the morning to make you enjoy waking up every morning.

Isn't it great that no matter if your dogs have seen you 5 minutes before, they greet you like it's the first time they've seen you in ages? Charlie does that all the time. It's great!!
