Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult

Well, I've finished The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield and for me, it get 4 out of 4 stars! I loved it. It kept me up at night - turning pages, wanting to see what would happen next. Definitely a great ghost story (without being scary Mom, so you can read it) with the old, classic style. Reminiscent of Jane Eyre and Rebecca with little reminders of Steinbeck's East of Eden and the Bible. Get it. Read it. Let me know what you think.

So now I'm on to my next book: Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. This is a book that both my sister, Maggie and my mother read and recommended. Interestingly, it is about a kid who goes to school one day and kills nine kids and one teacher within the span of 19 minutes. The book then delves into the trial that follows, the recovery of the small town in which this happened and the role that the people in this town actually played in "allowing" such a thing to happen. Jodi Picoult hasn't failed me yet so I have high expectations for this book. However, I'm sure it's going to freak me out about being a teacher and what I'm actually, probably, inadvertently doing to my own students. Ugh!
