Yesterday I went to Aldi and stocked up on most of my favorite things there: 1/2 and 1/2 (it's fat free and about $2 cheaper than anywhere else), sprouted bread, beans (lots of beans! - funny story about that in a minute), ground turkey, frozen shrimp and so on. I loves me some Aldi and their prices!
So yeah, we've been "studying" about biomolecules in Biology (carbs, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids). I say "studying" because I'm pretty sure most of my kids aren't learning anything. Anyway - we were going over examples of where we get these biomolecules. You know, carbs = breads, pastas, potatoes and proteins = meats and beans. So I tell the kids I eat beans pretty much every morning (they're in my breakfast concoction) and one of my kids says, "That's gross." It took me a minute to figure out why he thought that was gross. Apparently in this kids mind, beans = farts. So then I had to say, "Mmm...beans..." and then, "Beans beans they're good for your heart the more you eat the more you fart. The more you fart the better you feel so eat beans for every meal!" I think he was mortified to think of me, his teacher as farting. He doesn't know me very well!
Thankfully, today will end my suffering teaching about biomolecules. The kids will take they're test (open note because come on...there's no way they would score near passing without their notes) and I'll finally get a break from trying to drill this stupid shit into their brains. Why, you ask am I teaching them this? Because I have to...it's part of the curriculum. What're you going to do?
Tonight Jim and I will go to dinner with Doug and Lauren. We're going to Pacific Kitchen...an Asian restaurant. I say Asian because it serves dishes from 12 different countries in Asia. I try to have a different dish every time I go there. Last time I had a ramen dish. I haven't had their Pad Thai so I'm thinking that for tonight but we'll see. The menu is about 10 pages long. They also feature a lot of dishes with Spam. Jim had their Pad Thai with Spam last time...it was actually really delicious. A little salty for my taste but still yummy. After dinner tonight we'll most likely come home and hit the sack because Jim has to be at work at 6AM.
I'm sad. I'm 2 or 3 shows away from the end of this season of Great British Bake Off. I'll have to wait a year! Life just isn't fair!
Okay well, I'd best get a move on. Happy Friday! Later!
